What are Chakras?

The word 'chakra' is derived from a Sanskrit word meaning 'wheel'; but perhaps even a better translation would be spinning wheel. If
you could see chakras (as many of us whom work with them do) you would be able to see each primary chakra as a spinning vortex or
wheel of energy; spinning inward from the front of your body towards the center point of that chakra on the kunilini and then spinning
outward from that same point from your back.

Chakra Locations

The chakras start at the base of the spine and go up through the head on the kunilini which is located almost on your spinal column. The
kunilini is shaped like a staff and many have mentioned that the Twenty-third Psalm of The Bible is speaking of the kunilini. Almost all
religions believe in the spiritual and energy power points within the human body and these power points are called chakras.

There are seven primary or main chakra points with about a hundred smaller secondary chakras. The smaller points are often called
meridians and are used during acupuncture to attune the Chi flow. The secondary chakra points are influenced with action and physicality
while the seven primary chakras deal with emotions and spirituality. The primary chakras influence your health greatly, the health
concerns related to them are caused by an unbalance in the chakra itself, from an emotional or spiritual cause, which then manifests into
a physical ailment.

Chakra Healing

Each chakra relates strongly to a specific part of the body, specific emotions, mental, and spiritual concerns.

Vibrations of Chakras

Each chakra has a different frequency of vibration, symbol, color, and sound that it is attuned to. When the chakra is balanced, clear,
and energized it would be in tune and play the most wonderful sound of it’s own, emitting the proper vibration for that chakra. Many
things can effect the vibrations including sounds of voice, drums, music, chants, mantras,  the vibrational energy of colors, and of course
gemstones. All colors and sounds are vibrations and using the sounds and colors of the chakras assist them in becoming aligned and
balanced. The colors of the chakras are that of the rainbow; starting at the root chakra black/red, orange, yellow, green/pink, light
blue, indigo, and violet/white for the seventh chakra.

Each chakra needs to be able to function at the correct frequency independently. Each needs to be balanced, clear, energized, and
properly spinning. Each time all the chakras reach a level of unison the entire physical vibration of the human body is raised.
Think of a scale of one to ten, with ten being the highest and best. Next, think of each chakra needing to be at the same number on
that scale. Once each individual chakra is at the same number your entire physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual body raises into its
own new vibrational level to match that of the chakras. The more chakra energy work you do the higher your whole body will be raised
on this scale with ten being enlightenment while still in this physical human form.

Unbalanced and Blocked Chakras = Illness

When your chakras are not vibrating or spinning properly you are unable to move your physical, emotional, and mental body onto a higher
spiritual level. When we are born we can have a perfect balance or have an imbalance from the past lives we bring with our spirit.
Although the human body is just a vessel and a machine it is seldom broke from manufacturer reasons and natural biological causes. Each
chakra effects different parts of the body and almost all illness is caused by poor chakra health.

Chakra Healing

Illness is usually for us, or those around us, to learn higher lessons. You are given intuition and hints all the time about what you should
be doing and how you should be living but we often ignore the words from Spirit and our higher selves. We are too often stuck in the
reality and physicality of life to listen to our inner selves. Eventually, the chakras become out of balance and since you are stuck in the
reality -  the chakra manifests the energy imbalance into the physical; the health of your physical body.

When you have chakra blocks you slow down the Chi, the life force, and the spiritual connection. You may feel depressed, out of touch,
like you lost something, tired, unable to clearly think, or listless. You may get angry for no reason, be afraid, be unsure of yourself,
lack self-confidence, be unhappy without a direct understood reason, and have a general negative outlook on life. All of these are
indications that you have a problem to resolve that is chakra based.

Balanced Chakras = Happiness & Health

Universal Love, Energy, and Knowledge (ULEK™) flows through the chakras. It is important that you try to maintain the correct energy
flow through each chakra since you could also negatively be effected by a chakra being too open. Remember that balance in each, and
balance in all in comparison to one another is what you seek. When the chakras are aligned on the kunilini and balanced the energy flows
freely from the primal base to the spiritual chakra allowing us a grounded connection to a higher spiritual communication. Think of each
chakra as a water valve and your goal is to have each on the same amount so the ULEK flows through the kunilini, uninhibited and
constant.

Cure Yourself through Chakras
Chakra Healing

Most major illnesses and ailments are chakra based. Think about how when you feel uncomfortable and almost scared how your stomach
gets in an uproar. This is your emotions, your chakra emotions, manifesting into your physical form. When you are no longer scared your
stomach eases and returns to normal. Your whole body can be effected depending on the emotions and concerns you carry with you.
Childhood and past life issues that you may not be consciously aware of could be the cause of your illness now. This is not to say that
every single thing wrong physically is a chakra issue because we are human physical beings that are affected by nature and flukes
happen. But on a spiritual level we choose the body we are in this time, or Spirit choose this body for us, for a reason and for lessons to
be learned. Chakra work is not easy or painless. We often think we have resolved an issue mentally when there may still be emotional
garbage attached to the chakra. We also have a tendency to bury things and those emotions are transferred to a cellular level in our
bodies, so clearing those issues may take a lot of work to resurface and resolve. Crystals and stones also aid in working with
Chakras.
CHAKRAS
Sacred Energy Centers
Chakra Seven:
Thought, Universal identity, oriented to self-knowledge

This is the crown chakra that relates to consciousness as pure awareness. It is our connection to the greater
world beyond, to a timeless, spaceless place of all-knowing. When developed, this chakra brings us knowledge,
wisdom, understanding, spiritual connection, and bliss.
Chakra One:
Earth, Physical identity, oriented to self-preservation

Located at the base of the spine, this chakra forms our foundation. It represents the element earth, and is
therefore related to our survival instincts, and to our sense of grounding and connection to our bodies and the
physical plane. Ideally this chakra brings us health, prosperity, security, and dynamic presence.
Chakra Six:
Light, Archetypal identity, oriented to self-reflection

This chakra is known as the brow chakra or third eye center. It is related to the act of seeing, both
physically and intuitively. As such it opens our psychic faculties and our understanding of archetypal levels.
When healthy it allows us to see clearly, in effect, letting us "see the big picture."
Chakra Five:
Sound, Creative identity, oriented to self-expression

This is the chakra located in the throat and is thus related to communication and creativity. Here we
experience the world symbolically through vibration, such as the vibration of sound representing language.

The Throat Chakra controls overall self-expression, whether it is language or gesture.  An upset in this
Chakra Four:
Air, Social identity, oriented to self-acceptance

This chakra is called the heart chakra and is the middle chakra in a system of seven. It is related to love
and is the integrator of opposites in the psyche: mind and body, male and female, persona and shadow, ego
and unity. A healthy fourth chakra allows us to love deeply, feel compassion, have a deep sense of peace and
centeredness
Chakra Three:
Fire, Ego identity, oriented to self-definition

This chakra is known as the power chakra, located in the solar plexus. It rules our personal power, will, and
autonomy, as well as our metabolism. When healthy, this chakra brings us energy, effectiveness,
spontaneity, and non-dominating power.
The Sacral Chakra (just above the pelvic bone)

The second chakra is highly influential and governs sensual and sexual factors, the means whereby experiences
are felt and registered. Blockages result in a variety of phobias or conditions such as a fear of being touched,
a general incomprehension or an obsessive cleanliness. Physical manifestations may include being prone to
infections, or problems with the kidneys/bladder or lymphatic system.
The crown chakra is our direct connection to spirit. When it is balanced we understand our relationship with the universe. We dissolve
the illusion that we are separate from other humans and other forms of life. We appreciate our uniqueness and our places as parts of
the whole. When it is blocked we compare ourselves to others or to internal checklists (and usually find ourselves wanting). We feel
lonely, we are afraid of death.

The highest crown chakra is said to be the chakra of consciousness, the master chakra that controls all the others. Its role would be
very similar to that of the pituitary gland, which secretes hormones to control the rest of the endocrine system, and also connects to
the central nervous system via the hypothalamus. The thalamus is thought to have a key role in the physical basis of consciousness.

The Crown chakra is about wisdom and being one with the world. When this chakra is open, you are unprejudiced and quite aware of the
world and yourself.

If it is under-active, you're not very aware of spirituality. You're probably quite rigid in your thinking.
If this chakra is over-active, you are probably intellectualizing things too much. You may be addicted to spirituality and are probably
ignoring your bodily needs.

The Crown Chakra is associated with the color violet or white. We use the seventh chakra as a tool to communicate with our spiritual
nature. It is through this vortice that the life force is dispersed from the universe into the lower 6 chakras. It has been referred to
as our "GOD SOURCE",  a spiritual connection or communicator. This chakra is often pictured as a lotus flower opening to allow spiritual
awakening in an individual. The crown chakra could also be considered the well intuitive knowing is drawn from.

Chakra Seven - Associations

Color - violet, white
Physical Location - top of head
Purposes - intuitive knowing, connection to one's spirituality, integration of the whole
Spiritual Lesson - spirituality, living in the NOW
Physical Disfunctions- mystical depression, diseases of the muscular system, skeletal system and the skin, chronic exhaustion not
associated with physical ailments, sensitivity to light, sound, environment
Mental and Emotional Issues - discovery of the divine, lack of purpose, loss of meaning or identity, trust, selflessness, humanitarianism,
ability to see the bigger picture in the life stream, devotion, inspiration, values, ethics
Information Stored Inside Crown Chakra - duality, magnetism, controlling patterns, emotional feelings (joy, anger, fear)
Area of Body Governed - top center of the head, midline above the ears
The Third Eye Chakra is the focus of intuition, the perception of truth which enables a person to find their own course through life.
Accordingly, a blockage of this chakra will culminate in a haphazard approach to life, and probably an inability to settle down to any one
task for any length of time. This is the psychic center, and, when unblocked, the source of intuition, esp, and other psychic abilities.
This chakra is particularly related to the fears of cultures which wish to believe only that which they can experiences with the physical
senses, and blockages abound, including fear of the imagination, of dreams, and one's “irrational”; intuitions. Physical symptoms of
blockage may include persistent headaches, insomnia, and anxiety.

The Ajna Chakra, or third eye, is linked to the pineal gland. Ajna is the chakra of time and awareness and of light. The pineal gland is
a light sensitive gland, that produces the hormone melatonin, which regulates the instincts of going to sleep and awakening. It also
produces trace amounts of the psychedelic chemical dimethyltryptamine.

(Note: some argue that the pineal and pituitary glands should be exchanged in their relationship to the Crown and Brow chakras, based
on the description in Arthur Avalon's book on kundalini called Serpent Power.)

The Third Eye chakra is about insight and visualization. When it is open, you have a good intuition. You may tend to fantasize.
If it is under-active, you're not very good at thinking for yourself, and you may tend to rely on authorities. You may be rigid in your
thinking, relying on beliefs too much. You might even get confused easily.

If this chakra is over-active, you may live in a world of fantasy too much. In excessive cases halucinations are possible.
The Brow Chakra is associated with the color indigo. It is also often referred to as the "third eye" or the "mind center." It is our
avenue to wisdom - learning from our experiences and putting them in perspective. Our ability to separate reality from fantasy or
delusions is in connection with the healthfulness of this chakra. Achieving the art of detachment beyond "small mindedness" is
accomplished through developing impersonal intuitive reasoning. It is through an open brow chakra that visual images are received.

Chakra Six - Associations

Color - indigo
Physical Location - center of the forehead
Purposes - action of ideas, insight, mind development
Spiritual Lesson - understanding, reality check point, detachment, open mind
Physical Dysfunctions- brain tumors, strokes, blindness, deafness, seizures, learning disabilities, spinal dysfunctions, panic, depression
Mental and Emotional Issues - fear of truth, discipline, judgement, evaluation, emotional intelligence, concept of reality, confusion
Information Stored Inside Sacral Chakra - seeing clear picture (symbolic or literal), wisdom, intuition, mental facilities, intellect
Area of Body Governed - brain, neurological system, eyes, ears, nose, pituitary, pineal glands
centre could well result in an individual who becomes dictatorial while the physical signs could be growth problems, or a muscular tension
leading to a lack of vocal control.  This chakra governs communication and mental creativity. When it is balanced we communicate easily
and effectively with others in both written and verbal form. This includes being able to constructively express anger and other
emotions. When it is blocked communication is difficult to impossible, and these may be the people who say, “I'm just not creative”.
There can be more physical blockages associated with the fifth chakra than with any other. These can include excessive eating and
drinking (good ways to keep the throat busy while preventing communication), and a range of respiratory diseases. Teeth and gum
disorders fall into this category, as well.

The throat chakra, Vishuddha, is said to be related to communication and growth, growth being a form of expression. This chakra is
paralleled to the thyroid, a gland that is also in the throat, and which produces thyroid hormone, responsible for growth and
maturation.
The Throat chakra is about self-expression and talking. When it is open, you have no problems expressing yourself, and you might be
doing so as an artist.

When this chakra is under-active, you tend not to speak much, and you probably are introverted and shy. Not speaking the truth may
block this chakra.

If this chakra is over-active, you tend to speak too much, usually to domineer and keep people at a distance. You're a bad listener if
this is the case.

The Throat Chakra is associated with the color sky blue. This chakra is our will center. The healthfulness of the fifth chakra is in
relation to how honestly one expresses himself/herself. Lying violates the body and spirit.  We speak our choices with our voices
(throats). All choices we make in our lives have consequences on an energetic level. Even choosing not to make a choice such as in
repressing our anger (not speaking out) may manifest into laryngitis. We have all experienced that "lump in our throats" when we are at
a crossroad of not knowing how to speak the right words in any given situation, perhaps even stuffing our own emotions. A challenge of
the throat chakra is to express ourselves in the most truthful manner. Also to receive and assimilate information. Seek only the truth.

Chakra Five - Associations

Color - blue
Physical Location - throat, neck region
Purposes - learning to take responsibility for one's own needs
Spiritual Lesson - confession, surrender personal will over to divine will, faith, truthfulness over deceit
Physical Dysfunctions- sore throat, mouth ulcers, scoliosis, swollen glands, thyroid dysfunctions, laryngitis, voice problems, gum or
tooth problems, TMJ
Mental and Emotional Issues - personal expression, creativity, addiction, criticism, faith, decision making (choices), will, lack of
authority
Information Stored Inside Throat Chakra - self-knowledge, truth, attitudes, hearing, taste, smell
Area of Body Governed - throat, thyroid, trachea, neck vertebrae, mouth, teeth, gums, esophagus, parathyroid, hyperchalemus
The Heart Chakra effectively controls self-acceptance and by extension everyone else around us. Blockages may result in attitudes
such as selfishness or emotional blackmail. Physical manifestations could be disorders of the lungs and heart, and circulatory problems.
This chakra relates to love and emotional well-being. When it is unblocked we give love unconditionally and attract to ourselves those
people who give us an abundance of love. When it is blocked we feel the lack of love in our lives as keenly as those with third-chakra
blockages feel a lack of material security. Heart conditions are the most common physical symptoms.
The heart chakra, Anahata, is related to love, equilibrium, and well-being. It is related to the thymus, located in the chest. This
organ is part of the immune system, as well as being part of the endocrine system. It produces T cells responsible for fighting off
disease, and is adversely affected by stress.

The Heart chakra is about love, kindness and affection. When it is open, you are compassionate and friendly, and you work at
harmonious relationships.

When your Heart chakra is under-active, you are cold and distant
.
If this chakra is over-active, you are suffocating people with your love and your love probably has quite selfish reasons.
The Heart Chakra is associated with the color green or pink. This love center of our human energy system is often the focus in bringing
about a healing. Thus, the words "Love Heals All" have great truth. Hurtful situations that can effect our emotional being are divorce
or separation, grief through death, emotional abuse, abandonment, adultery. All of these are wounding to the heart chakra. Physical
illnesses brought about by heartbreak require that an emotional healing occur along with the physical healing. Learning to love yourself
is a powerful first step in securing a healthy fourth chakra. The "wounded child" resides in the heart chakra.

Chakra Four - Associations

Color - green, pink
Physical Location - center of chest
Purposes - emotional empowerment
Spiritual Lesson - forgiveness, unconditional love, letting go, trust, compassion
Physical Disfunctions- heart conditions, asthma, lung & breast cancers, thoracic spine, pneumonia, upper back, shoulder problems
Mental and Emotional Issues - love, compassion, confidence, inspiration, hope, despair, hate, envy, fear, jealousy, anger, generosity
Information Stored Inside Sacral Chakra - connections or "heart strings" to those whom we love
Area of Body Governed - heart, circulatory system, blood, lungs, rib cage, diaphragm, thymus, breasts, esophagus, shoulders, arms,
hands
The Solar Plexus Chakra is the power centre and focus of personal freedom or, conversely, feelings of guilt. Mental consequences of a
blockage might be anxiety about how others perceive you, envy or selfish greed. Physically there could be digestive disorders, liver and
gall bladder problems or disorders of the pancreas.

This is the chakra of physical and material power, with an emphasis on mastery in the physical realm, especially the ability to manifest
one's hopes and dreams. It relates to expressing one's unique individuality in the physical world.  When it is unblocked people feel
self-confident, have a clear sense of purpose, and pursue dreams which others would consider impossible. Imbalances appear as lack of
self-confidence, insecurity about money or other physical things, and may also express itself in terms of being aggressive or using one's
power to dominate others. Physical symptoms are usually digestive.

The solar plexus chakra, Manipura, is related to energy, assimilation and digestion, and is said to correspond to the roles played by the
pancreas and the outer adrenal glands, the adrenal cortex. These play a valuable role in digestion, the conversion of food matter into
energy for the body.

The Navel chakra is about asserting yourself in a group. When it is open, you feel in control and you have sufficient self esteem.
When the Navel chakra is under-active, you tend to be passive and indecisive. You're probably timid and don't get what you want.
If this chakra is over-active, you are domineering and probably even aggressive.

The Solar Plexus Chakra is associated with the color yellow. This is the area which defines our "self-esteem". The personality that
develops during puberty is housed in this chakra....otherwise known as the "EGO". Anyone experiencing dysfunction of the third chakra is
having difficulty obtaining or maintaining his/her own "personal power". This intuitive chakra is where we get our "gut instincts" that
signal us to do or not to do something. Strong self-esteem is a required for developing intuitive skills.

Chakra Three - Associations

Color - yellow
Physical Location - solar plexus
Purposes - mental understanding of emotional life
Spiritual Lesson - acceptance of your place in the life stream. (self-love)
Physical Dysfunctions- stomach ulcers, intestinal tumors, diabetes, pancreatitis, indigestion, anorexia/bulimia, hepatitis, cirrhosis,
adrenal imbalances, arthritis, colon diseases
Mental and Emotional Issues - self esteem, fear of rejection, oversensitivity to criticism, self-image fears, fears of our secrets being
found out, indecisiveness
Information Stored Inside Sacral Chakra - personal power, personality, consciousness of self within the universe (sense of belonging),
knowing
Area of Body Governed - upper abdomen, umbilicus to rib cage, liver, gallbladder, middle spine, spleen, kidney, adrenals, small
intestines, stomach
This chakra is most directly related to energy flow, as expressed in the flow of blood, and especially with the energies of sexuality and
creativity. It is also deeply connected to the five physical senses.

When it is unblocked people feel fully alive, energetic, spontaneous, guilt-free. and in full appreciation of their bodies. When it is
unbalanced reproductive organ diseases, joint stiffness, and various blood disorders may result.Chakra Two:
Water, Emotional identity, oriented to self-gratification

The second chakra, located in the abdomen, lower back, and sexual organs, is related to the element water, and to emotions and
sexuality. It connects us to others through feeling, desire, sensation, and movement. Ideally this chakra brings us fluidity and grace,
depth of feeling, sexual fulfillment, and the ability to accept change.

The Sacral Chakra is highly influential and governs sensual and sexual factors, the means whereby experiences are felt and registered.
Blockages result in a variety of phobias or conditions such as a fear of being touched, a general incomprehension or an obsessive
cleanliness. Physical manifestations may include being prone to infections, or problems with the kidneys/bladder or lymphatic system.
This chakra is most directly related to energy flow, as expressed in the flow of blood, and especially with the energies of sexuality and
creativity. It is also deeply connected to the five physical senses.  When it is unblocked people feel fully alive, energetic, spontaneous,
guilt-free and in full appreciation of their bodies.

The sacral chakra, Swadhisthanna, is located in the groin, and is related to emotion, sexuality and creativity. This chakra is said to
correspond to the testes or the ovaries, that produce the various sex hormones involved in the reproductive cycle, which can cause
dramatic mood swings.

The Sacral chakra is about feeling and sexuality. When it is open, your feelings flow freely, and are expressed without you being
over-emotional. You are open to intimacy and you can be passionate and lively. You have no problems dealing with your sexuality.
If you tend to be stiff and unemotional or have a "poker face," the Sacral chakra is under-active. You're not very open to people.
If this chakra is over-active, you tend to be emotional all the time. You'll feel emotionally attached to people and you can be very
sexual.

The Sacral Chakra is associated with the color orange or red-orange. I usually visualize the Sunkist orange that has been dyed to
attract the produce buyer, or the orange red of an evening sunset when I'm focusing on spinning my second chakra. This chakra often
offers us the opportunity to lessen our "control issues" and find a balance in our lives, teaching us to recognize that acceptance and
rejection are not the only options in our relationships. The process of making changes in our life stream through our personal choices is a
product of second chakra energy. A well-functioning second chakra helps one to maintain a healthy yin-yang existence.

Chakra Two - Associations

Color - orange
Physical Location - lower abdomen to the navel
Purposes - emotional connection
Spiritual Lesson - creativity, manifestation, honoring relationships, learning to "let go"
Physical Dysfunctions- low back pain, sciatica, ob/gyn problems, pelvic pain, libido, urinary problems
Mental and Emotional Issues - blame, guilt, money, sex, power, control, creativity, morality
Information Stored Inside Sacral Chakra - duality, magnetism, controlling patterns, emotional feelings (joy, anger, fear)
Area of Body Governed - sexual organs, stomach, upper intestines, liver, gallbladder, kidney, pancreas, adrenal glands, spleen, middle
spine
The Root Chakra is the first chakra and the source of strength. It is essential for proper development. The other centres of energy
rely upon the root chakra to perform properly. Disorders within the root chakras may result in mental problems (e.g. aggression,
confusion) or physical symptoms (e.g. of the intestines, excretory systems, or bones). This chakra represents our relationship with our
physical bodies and with the material world. It grounds us in physical existence. When balanced, its energy helps us to blend the physical
and spiritual, and to eliminate that which is no longer needed for growth. We enjoy physical existence. When unbalanced, we may be
afraid of life, feel like victims, withdraw from physical reality, or operate in our own interests only. Physical symptoms can include any
difficulties with feet, legs, or lower back.
The base or root chakra, Muludhara, is related to security, survival and also to basic human potentiality. It is said the kundalini lies
coiled here, ready to uncoil and bring man to his highest spiritual potential in the crown chakra. This center is located in the region
between the genitals and the anus. Although no endocrine organ is placed here, it is said to relate to the inner adrenal glands, the
adrenal medulla, responsible for the fight and flight response when survival is under threat. In this region is located a muscle that
controls ejaculation in the sexual act. A parallel is drawn between the sperm cell and the ovum, where the genetic code lies coiled, and
the legendary kundalini, ready to express itself as a fully developed human being.
The Root chakra is about being physically there and feeling at home in situations. If it is open, you feel grounded, stable and secure.
You don't unnecessarily distrust people. You feel present in the here and now and connected to your physical body. You feel you have
sufficient territory.
If you tend to be fearful or nervous, your Root chakra is probably under-active. You'd easily feel unwelcome.
If this chakra is over-active, you may be very materialistic and greedy. You're probably obsessed with being secure and resist change.
The Base or Root Chakra is associated with the color red. This chakra is the grounding force that allows us to connect to the earth
energies and empower our beings. Focusing one's attention on the color of a cherry popsicle or a juicy red apple can help bring our
energetic body "down to earth" and in alignment with our physical body when we find ourselves energetically fleeting or in other
words....."spacing off."

Chakra One - Associations
Color - red
Physical Location - base of the spine
Purposes - kinesthetic feelings, movement
Spiritual Lesson - material world lessons
Physical Dysfunctions- lower back pain, sciatica, varicose veins, rectal tumors, depression, immune related disorders
Mental and Emotional Issues - survival, self esteem, social order, security, family
Information Stored Inside Root Chakra - familial beliefs, superstitions, loyalty, instincts, physical pleasure or pain, touch
Area of Body Governed - spinal column, kidneys, legs, feet, rectum, immune system
To heal, is to bring the chakras into alignment and balance.
