| How did I end up on this path? |
I believe that from the time I was little, my grandma tried to introduce me to the gift of
healing. She used to tell me how she healed me when I was little and very seriously ill.
She was always healing my animals. She taught me to heal my animals. My grandma
died with I was 16 years old, but had become ill several years earlier. As a teenager, I
had other typical teenage things to do and all of the things she had tried to teach me
slipped through my fingers.
Years later, I developed a weird sort of skin condition. It started after the birth of my
second child as a small rash one finger. Over the course of 16 years it become a very
serious and painful problem that had spread to both hands. My fingers would crack and
bleed. I could barely button a button on my babies clothes without bleeding on them. I
went to many doctors trying to find help but not one of them was ever able to find a cure
or even help stop the progression. After suffering with this condition for so many years,
I finally decided to try to find alternative healing methods. That is when I found Reiki.
Reiki is a very impressive method of healing using the Universal Life Force Energy. I
found it through a search on the internet. I contacted a Reiki site and was connected
with a wonderful healer named Garnet. Within 3 days of her sending me distance Reiki
my hands started to show dramatic signs of improvement. I have never looked back,
Reiki was a miracle for me. My hands do occasionally get small cracks which are painful,
but I can effectively control this now. These mild outbreaks are very, very few and far
between and usually brought on by something I've handled that I know I should have
avoided. Those who knew me before I found Reiki sometimes don't really get it, but
they all, without exception, will agree that the difference is truly astounding.
My life was so dramatically changed that I had to know more. I have now been through
various levels of the Usui method of Reiki and have become a 3rd Degree Reiki Master.
My teacher, Ryan Kurczak, is an ordained Center for Spiritual Awareness Minister in the
Kriya Yoga tradition.
Over the years as I have re-opened to spirit and to healing I also began a study of the
Native American traditions of my ancestors. I have, and continue to study as often as
possible, with 2 wonderful teachers and organic herbalists, Anne Romance and her
husband Chuck Lothes. They teach classes ranging from growing and harvesting organic
herbs and harvesting wild herbs to making herbal medicine.
In the summer of 2006 I completed an apprenticeship with Anne and Chuck at Green
Heron Gardens in Salem, WV, that revolved around those teachings, incorporated the
use of plant and animal spirits and all of nature into the art of healing. Also included
was a comprehensive study of the medicine wheel. My healing style is a blend of
Shamanic Healing traditions and Usui Reiki. But I always remember that all healing truly
comes from God. I’m just an instrument.
My desire is to open a Holistic Wellness Center surrounded all of these teachings and
include other healing modalities such as Polarity, EFT - Emotional Freedom Technique,
Thai Yoga Therapy and Chakra Balancing. I am currently studying these various
techniques and have several classes to finish up through the summer. My goal is to be
offering all of these healing modalities to my clients by the fall of 2009. Until then, please
